Melbourne InDesign

Saturday Melbourne Indesign was held over 22-23 August and shows why Melbourne has been and still is a big front-runner for design in Australia!

RADS went along to see what is the latest and greatest..

Throughout three precincts; Mebourne CBD, Fitzroy & Collingwood, and Richmond, showrooms were booming showing of the latest and greatest products and designs. Boasting the best in furniture, fittings, equipment and more we got a great chance to see products Adelaide is starving for. We cant wait to use some of the products and inspirations for up coming projects.

The products themselves were not the only stars of the show. Some of Melbourne’s culinary delights certainly sweetened the deal, with World Pizza Champ Johnny Di Francesco of 400 Gradi cooking pizzas in the Smeg showroom, amongst many other showrooms putting it all on.

Installments throughout the city certainly made Melbourne Indesign a complete event. CafeCulture Insitu welcomed guests with a fantastic installment constructed out of 3000 ribbons (so I was told) to physically experience the ‘idea process’.

It was a great experience for RADS to get amongst some up and coming designers and their products to use on future projects. Each time I go back to Melbourne they seem to reach the next level. Not just in a design sense but the total package. Collaborative efforts are in your face with executive chefs working with top designers to make a dining experience more than a treat for taste buds. This certainly follows through to residential trends, with demanding unique lifestyles seeking individuality.

Adelaide has a long way to go yet until we have the luxuries of Melbourne’s products on show and design culture. With events like Indesign we certainly do not miss out, it’s great for RADS and our clients to see some of Australia’s best in design!
